Please read what others have to say about Lucie...
On December 28, 2008 I got to meet an amazing young lady, Lucie, when she walked into the Towson Town Center Build a Bear Workshop. She had come to this store to use her own money and gift cards to buy bears for children in the Ronald McDonald House. WOW!! When many children are counting down the hours until Santa comes, Lucie was out spreading some holiday cheer of her own. My staff was speechless when they learned of Lucie's wonderful gesture. The Towson Town Build A Bear started to see Lucie pretty often after that! Not even a few months later we found out about the horrible tradgedy that her family went through when their house caught fire. But even when faced with something so horrific, Lucie did not miss a beat. Instead of dwelling on what happened she kept her thoughts on the next time she would be building bears! It has been an honor to have Lucie come into my life and teach me lessons on selflessness and giving. She has become family to our Build a Bear team and we are so proud of her!!!

I had the great pleasure of meeting you today when you came into the Build a Bear store in Towson during our school Build a Bear event. This was the 5th year that I have organized this event to benefit the organization "Kids Helping Hopkins", for which I am a representative. Like your work with The Ronald McDonald House, our mission is to build as many teddy bears as possible for the sick children that visit the Child Life Center at Johns Hopkins. Our motto is Build a Bear...Build a Smile, and we have built hundreds of teddy bears in the past five years. I was so incredibly touched to hear your inspiring story, and feel truly honored and appreciative that you decided to take part in our event today, donating 4 bears to our cause. You have a kind and giving soul and are mature and insightful beyond your years. It completely warmed my heart to meet you and hear of the fine work you are doing. You deserve to feel very proud. Perhaps one day you can come visit my first grade students and tell them your story. Please feel free to contact me anytime. I would be happy and honored to assist you in your work with Build a Bear!
